Celebrating all-time popular cartoon characters!
One of the loveliest days has finally arrived! Not only the marathon, but on the contrary, the day also belongs to someone who is far away from running. Guessed right! It’s Winnie the Pooh Day, celebrated on the birthday of chubby Pooh’s creator, A.A. Milne. Every year, the occasion is celebrated with activities such as watching Pooh movies, reading Pooh books, enjoying picnics, which include ample honey on the menu.

Pooh first appeared in print in 1926, not to forget his friends, Piglet, Tiger and Eeyore. He later starred in a series of cartoon films. Pooh is loved by one and all, but there are several other cute cartoon and fairytale characters that are etched in our mind even today. Forgetting the big bad world's ugly rat race and recalling the golden childhood days of Rapunzel and Red Riding Hood, let’s take a look at them.
1) Mickey Mouse: The King of the cartoon world, Mickey Mouse needs no introduction. He has been through numerous design changes. Over the years, his body became rounder and his face more expressive. In spite of that, he has maintained his heartwarming personality that we all love.
2) Minnie Mouse: Mickey’s “Gosh, Minnie, you’ve always been a princess to me” pretty much sums up the character of the Queen of the cartoon world and Mickey Mouse’s pretty girlfriend, Minnie Mouse. Mickey is head-over-heels in love with her, and she too is devoted to him. Her romantic personality is reflected when she says that her dream lover will be someone who “swings her off her feet” and “makes her laugh”, and this thoroughly amuses us. We simply adore this most loving and reliable character in the Mickey Mouse franchise.
3) Pluto: Very few know that Pluto was one of the bloodhounds sent to look for Mickey, who had escaped from prison. He also got a new name, Rover, and belonged to none other than Minnie! But later, he was called Pluto and became Mickey’s best buddy. What a transformation, from a bloodthirsty hound to an amiable doggie!
4) Goofy: Goofy’s had some name changes over the years, being called Dippy Dawg and Dippy the Goof, before becoming known simply as Goofy, one of Mickey’s hilarious pals. Oh gosh, he’s so cute!
5) Donald Duck: Donald was always a big hit with audiences, and his popularity continued to increase and he eventually starred in 128 cartoons! That’s more than any other cartoon character, even Mickey! Like Mickey, he too needs no introduction. He’s one of the best in the cartoon world.

6) Daisy Duck: Donald Duck’s hot girlfriend and Minnie Mouse’s best friend, Daisy Duck’s quote, “I don’t like magic anymore…I wanna go shopping!” is something with which every shopaholic girl will identify. A fun-loving, go-getter diva, she also loves and cares for her friends deeply. Her confidence and aggressiveness acts as a sharp contrast to Minnie’s shy and demure personality. Her love for glamour and her desire to be “surrounded with pretty things” makes us admire her.
7) Fairytale Princesses: Be it the melodious Ariel, the charming Aurora, innocent Snow White, beautiful Belle, sweet Cinderella or the spirited Mulan, they all have won our hearts immensely. Even though all are extremely popular, the one character that may remain every kid’s favourite is Cinderella. Who can forget her journey from the cinder to the palace, and also her Fairy Godmother? However, some may term Belle as the best for choosing and loving inner, rather than superficial beauty. Others may say that Mulan stands out for her decision to join the army. And the debate goes on…By the way, who do you relate to? Girls, I mean.
There are also some amazing car, plane and helicopter characters like Lightning McQueen, Dipper and Blade Ranger respectively, which are worth a special mention. Coming back to Pooh, amidst all the dreadful days of people harming each other, a warm and affectionate day celebrating a soft, cuddly bear is a welcome change. Happy Winnie the Pooh Day!
